Tuesday, January 8. 2008Extra Bus Services for Moreland Road510 Bus along Moreland Road - more services from Jan 21 From Monday, January 21, an extra 75 services a week and extended hours would mean more flexible travel options for people in Brunswick and Coburg. The extra bus services will provide people with greater ability to travel to work, visit family and friends and access to the metropolitan train network. For the first time Route 510 will run until 9pm on weekdays, Saturdays and Sunday with Saturday-timetabled services operating on public holidays, and Sunday-timetabled services operating on Christmas Day and Good Friday. In addition to 42 new Sunday services, there will be 25 extra services throughout the week and eight extra Saturday services, providing improved transport options seven days-a-week. Route 510 runs through Essendon, Brunswick, Northcote, Thornbury and Ivanhoe. As part of the $10.5 billion Meeting Our Transport Challenges plan the State Government has committed $1.4 billion to improving bus services in metropolitan Melbourne over the next 10 years. This includes $646 million on local bus routes and a further $657 million on a major extension of the cross-town SmartBus network, providing a comprehensive radial transport system across the city.
